Bathing and Dressing

Bathing and dressing are often clumped together, but they’re actually categorized as two separate activities of daily living (ADL) when it comes to needs assessments of seniors or the disabled. An individual who needs help with any aspect of bathing or dressing is classified as “dependent” – meaning that individual requires some help, cueing, or supervision to perform the activity.

Seniors often experience difficulty climbing into or out of the bathtub safely. Many are afraid of slips and falls, which can lead to a person avoiding baths or showers. This can lead to a decrease in hygiene, mental and emotional outlook, and even depression. Many seniors or the disabled rely on family members to help them get into or out of the bathtub, which often results in injury to non professional caregivers.

At Quality Home Care Solutions, we provide experienced, compassionate and understanding services by trained CNAs and home health aides to ensure that your loved one can bathe or shower safely. Whether you or a loved one just needs help getting into or out of the tub or shower, or requires hands-on care throughout the process, we can help.

Our CNAs and home health aides are experienced in helping clients choose appropriate clothing and dressing in a variety of scenarios, from those diagnosed with contractures, to paralysis, to in-place bandages.

Our CNAs are also familiar with multiple adaptive equipment aids for dressing and their use, and are capable of instructing clients regarding such aids. Dressing is one of the most common activities of daily living, but many individuals have problems with upper body and/or dressing, usually due to paraplegia caused by strokes. Our CNAs are trained in body dressing techniques for upper body as well as lower body needs.
